About the event

Customized Employment has long been a federally recognized strategy for removing barriers that prevent job candidates with disabilities from contributing to the workforce. And yet, it is still a relatively unknown concept to employers and HR professionals who could benefit from engaging workers with disabilities and other “hidden workers.” Merry Reid Sheffer, the Director of Employment Services for the Louisville nonprofit, Edge Employment, will share real success stories of Customized Employment with notable Louisville employers and strategies for implementing Customized Employment in your own workplace.

Attendees will come away with concrete knowledge on:

  • The importance of Employment First and Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) for all and how Customized Employment can make it possible,

  • Examples of local Customized Employment relationships and their benefits to a workplace, and

  • How to justify Customized Employment as a “program” that is fair, consistent, and compliant with your overall HR strategy.
