The Year of Innovation Comes to a Close
Dear LSHRM Member:
As we approach the close of 2018, I want to thank each of you for being a valuable member of the LSHRM family. To the 2018 LSHRM board of directors, I appreciate your exceptional work, commitment, and dedication to the human resource profession and to our members. We are blessed to have some of the most amazing volunteers in the world!
To our members, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to disrupt the status quo and to be innovative. Most of all, thank you for the privilege to serve and lead this mega chapter, Louisville Society for Human Resource Management.
In 2018, LSHRM set out to serve the community as a trusted business partner and address the most critical human resource challenges affecting people and organizations in Greater Louisville. We did just that!
Some of the highlights include:
- Provided programming and support to assist veterans to successfully transition into the civilian workforce.
- Developed and launched a virtual resume’ coaching tool that allows individuals to submit their resume’ for a free critique by a HR professional.
- Created a career transition support group that offers monthly training and resources for anyone who wishes to advance their career.
- Donated and participated in over a dozen local wellness initiatives in 2018.
- Contributed over 75 hours in the community supporting workforce development.
- Partnered with the Kentucky Workforce Center to launch the innovative workforce initiative, Talent Pipeline Management in Louisville.
- Record participation in the new SHRM certification study groups.
- Because of your support and success of LSHRM programs and sponsorship, we were able to celebrate a record SHRM Foundation chapter donation of over $10,000!
- We brought the 2018 National SHRM Conference First Place Lip Sync Battle Championship to Louisville.
- Last, but certainly not least, we secured an international, hall of fame speaker for the November chapter meeting with nearly 200 attendees. Steve Gilliland made us all laugh and think critically about change and successfully navigating life’s detours.
Again, thank you for being one of the most productive and phenomenal SHRM chapters on the planet! Stay tuned, because it gets greater in 2019 under the leadership of LSHRM President, Susan Huffmon. She is in full gear and stands ready to take this chapter to the next level. I support her every step of the way! #WeAreBold
