On July 25, the next session of the Career Advancement Program will be held at LINAK from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. The topic will be “Writing Effective Cover Letters and Thank You Letters.” All LSHRM members are welcome to attend; these events are free. LSHRM members can also invite guests to attend.

Transitions of Aging
On August 13, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., the LSHRM Wellness Committee is offering a special program, free to LSHRM members, and only $10 for non-members. The program is “Transitions of Aging,” and will take place at the Thrive Center at 204 East Market Street. Light refreshments will be served. Empower your employees with knowledge and resources to navigate the stressors, challenges, and decision-making process of caring for aging loved ones.

Legislative Update: Limits Union’s Right To Access
Last month, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued an important decision clarifying whether and when an employer may lawfully exclude union organizers from its premises. The decision reverses decades of precedence, referred to as the ‘public space’ exception, in which employers had to allow nonemployee union representatives access to public areas of their property to engage in promotional activity. The reason was their exclusion was considered to be unlawful discrimination, a violation of the NLRA. But on June 14, the Board abolished that exception and held that employers no longer have to allow non-employee union representatives access to public areas unless specific circumstances exist, such as the employer discriminates against the union by permitting similar groups access.
From this employers can regulate conduct in their public spaces, including rules prohibiting third party solicitation. Rules/Practices should be written in a neutral, broad fashion so as not to target or single out union or organizing activities. Likewise, enforcement of such rules should be fair and balanced.

Thanks to Laura , our social medial numbers and presence has increased since last year! Laura is a transplant from just south of Atlanta, Ga. Laura has been in Louisville for about two years and love it! Currently working as an HR coordinator at KentuckyOne Health. Her hobbies include singing, baking, gardening and hiking with my dog.

LSHRM’s website platform Wild Apricot Launches Mobile App for Members on Android and iOS
The switch has been flipped on our LSHRM App. Scan the QR code to get your free Wild Apricot for members on an Android or iOS device.
Members will use the same user name and password as the LSHRM Website.
There are 4 things you can do in under 30 seconds after you log into the app:
1. Register for an event: View a list of events, register to attend, and pay a registration fee.
2. Viewing Tickets: View your registrations for upcoming events, find out more information on the event, and add it to your calendar
3. Contact another member: View the member directory, see member contact details, and get in touch with people in the community.
4. Find your way to an event you’re attending
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to customize the Wild Apricot app for our LSHRM brand. The app will show data and events from your Wild Apricot account, but the colors and layout will remain standard.
